Kipilipili Expo 2019

After six months of preparations, the time had come, and it was lights, camera and action!

This year’s event had seen more than 35 vendors from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania come together to celebrate this day of natural hair and beauty.

Our additional feature for 2019 was Men’s Den. This was a segment specifically for created for men to unwind, relax and get their grooming done. (Click here for more).

Our guest speaker for 2019 was Ms. Beatrice Ndungu, an award-winning brand and marketing expert. She blessed us with her wealth of knowledge on branding and marketing giving inspiration to all the SMEs that were present on the day.

We couldn’t end the night without awarding our best SMEs. The aim of Kipilipili Awards is to recognize and award these SMEs for the job well done throughout the year. The award winners for 2019 were Marashi ya Zanzibar (Best Brand on the Day), Lyn Naturals (Brand of the Year), Nubian Stores (East African Brand of the Year), GoodFellaz Barber House (Barber Shop of the Year) and Binti Mabutu (Salon of the Year & Natural Hair Stylist of the Year).

Kipilipili Expo is that one day in a year that connects you to a network of fellow natural hair enthusiasts. You get to meet the local natural hair and beauty vendors, shop, network, dance and enjoy the afternoon away with your friends and family. (Click here to watch full event)

Our big thank you goes to everyone who took part, showed up and participated on the day. We thank our vendors for the support, our volunteers for the assistance, our main guest speaker for taking her time out to come and share with us her knowledge and all the performers on day.
